Dr. Gordon Smith

Chair Gordon is the Executive Director of the Centre for Global Studies, and Adjunct Professor of Political Science at the University of Victoria.
He came to the University of Victoria in 1998 after a distinguished career with the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, which included posts as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to the European Union in Brussels and Ambassador to the Canadian Delegation to NATO.
Currently held positions include Chair of Canada’s International Development Research Centre and Executive Director of the Canadian Institute for Climate Studies. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the University of Westminster (London and Paris).
