Michele Cook is IICRD's Capacity Director and is currently the Project Director for YouthScape, a J.W. McConnell Family Foundation funded initiative to increase the resilience of communities across Canada by engaging youth.

Michele is a connector at heart. With a background in Physiotherapy and Community Development, Ms. Cook has dedicated the last 17 years of her life to reconnecting and enabling children and their families within our global village. This has entailed working with children with disabilities, family based interventions, community asset building, and the development and implementation of training and capacity building tools to build on local strengths and facilitate systems change.

Prior to joining IICRD in 2008, Elaina worked in a variety of sectors – from private, government, non-profits and academia – on a variety of issues ranging from policy, environment, gender and human rights, to community development and youth engagement, both in Canada and internationally.

She draws on these experiences to contribute to IICRD’s multi-faceted work. Elaina also holds a Masters degree in Public Administration (International Development) and a Bachelor or Arts in Communications.
