  • Out of Home Living and Caring: What Do Young People Think?
    Young people from across the globe are asked to participate in "A Place For Us" a web dialogue on what they perceive to be good practice for out of home living and caring. The four-week web dialogues begin Monday, 9 August and continue through Friday, 3 September.

  • Double jeopardy for youth when involvement in the child welfare system impacts experiences in the juvenile justice system (USA)
    Child welfare system involvement may encourage delinquent behavior, and worsen abused and neglected children’s treatment in court

    ( New York, New York, November 18, 2004)—A new study released today by Children’s Rights shows that youth in foster care are at greater risk for delinquency and that child welfare and juvenile justice systems need to work more closely together to help youth involved in both systems. The study, titled Youth Involvement in the Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice Systems: A Case of Double Jeopardy?, is the first systematic effort to examine the needs of this growing population of youth and assess the response of both systems to these needs.
