  • Afghanistan Children Gather Over Future of Country
    "We are the children of Afghanistan, the future of our country."



    Across Afghanistan girls and boys are being empowered to form their own children's groups and networks. Over 300 children's groups exist in 6 Northern provinces of Afghanistan (Balkh, Badakshan, Jowzjan, Kunduz, Saripul and Takhar). With support from adults (families, communities, agencies) boys and girls are demonstrating that they can play an active role in promoting peace, raising awareness of their rights, solving their difficulties and rebuilding their communities. Whilst the children's groups have different names: Children's GMC groups (Global Movement for Children), Children's Wellbeing Committees (CWBCs), Child to Child groups, Working Children's Groups, School groups. They are united by a common vision and action towards peace, unity and respect for all girls, boys, men and women in Afghanistan.

  • Venganoor to be first child-friendly panchayat (India)
    The Venganoor village, nestling in the suburbs of the capital city, is set to become the first child-friendly panchayat in the State. The grama panchayat has tied up with an NGO for a five-year community project aimed at mobilising community support for early development of creative and academic skills in children.

The Wayuu Women’s Network and University of Zulia Indigenous Children’s Education Project - Venezuela

In 1985 the Wayuu Women’s Network established a partnership with the University of Zulia to address a growing concern over the acculturation of Wayuu children, loss of language, culture, and religion, and an ensuing breakdown of family and community protection of children.
