IICRD to host Bogota Business Roundtable

IICRD will be hosting Canadian companies working in Colombia to discuss corporate responsibility around their investment in early childhood and peace building in the nation.

Given Colombia’s recent focus Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and investment in early childhood and peace building and Canadian companies’ strong desire to make a positive difference in Colombia, IICRD will be hosting an information sharing roundtable joining IICRD staff and a number of businesses from across various sectors investing in Colombia on Tuesday, December 6th 2011 at 7:30 to 9:30 at the Radisson Hotel (Calle 113 Number 7 65, Bogota).

IICRD has been working in Colombia for the last number of years on a CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) funded project entitled “Protecting Early Childhood from Violence - Restoring the Promise of a Future for Colombian Children”. Working with children, families, leaders, NGOs, professionals, local government officials and businesses, we are contributing to communities’ efforts to effectively prevent violence that impact young children, and through them their entire community. See "Child-centered Accountability and Protection Evaluation (CAPE)" under Projects for more information.

In order to continue this work in Colombia we are actively looking for Canadian firms investing in the country to partner with us and see how we can mutually support our shared economic and social development goals.  During this focused bilingual (Eng/Sp) roundtable guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the work of IICRD in Colombia and around the world as well as share information about their work contributing to the social and economic development in Colombia, some of the challenges you and your partners face while identifying some future needs that NGOs like IICRD can assist in.
