Join the CP MERG for a webinar and lively discussion!
Francesca Bonino, Research Fellow with the Secretariat of the Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action (ALNAP), will present on ALNAP’s ongoing initiative to develop and pilot guidance for evaluators looking at protection in humanitarian contexts. The presentation will give an overview of what are the main challenges that confront humanitarian evaluators and evaluation commissioning agencies when they look at protection (not only child protection but wider humanitarian protection issues). The presentation will touch on the perceived gaps that have been noticed by ALNAP members when they evaluate protection in humanitarian action and concludes with some preliminary observations of what could be done to start addressing those gaps. You can review the paper which the presentation will be based on the ALNAP website: http://www.alnap.org/what-we-do/evaluation/evaluating-protection Ashley Inselman, World Vision Capacity Building Advisor, will be presenting on the development and use of the Emergency Developmental Assets Profile (EmDAP). In coordination with Search Institute, the EmDAP was developed as a unique tool that it is a brief, readily translated, and reliable tool for assessing children’s psycho-social development (as reported by children themselves) while they are in a crisis situation. The non-emergency DAP can be used to measure the 40 developmental assets and categorize them into 8 different constructs through children answering a 58 question survey. The EmDAP asks 13 questions and can be used to gain a snapshot of how children are doing in an emergency and how to better programme toward their needs.
